From AIESEC AUC’s remarkable Stories:
Boris from Serbia now it has been more then one year since I came to Cairo. Since I came lots of things changed including me. I could never imagine what I would face, by coming on exchange in country so different from mine. Living in Cairo, a city that never sleeps, is only for those, who have adventure running trough their body. On a one square meter in Down Town you can see so many different and new things then anywhere in the world. Cairo traffic is a special story, but only rule apply: "no rules". For me, this was most shocking experience, but now I don't give it too much attention. Egyptian cuisine, although unknown and a bit spicy for me, became common part of my usual meal. Foul and Tameyah, those two best friends, really connect you with the ordinary Egyptians. Social life in Egypt is something very pleasant for me. You can find million people on the street at 1 am, smoking shisha and talking about their day. I really enjoy going with friend to local shisha and tea shops, just to feel as part of this culture. The best memories I have are from the trips I made with other interns. We have traveled up and down of Egypt, from North Coast to Sinai, and these places are hidden gems of Egypt. As I said before, Egypt is a plase with lots of possibilities for exploration, fun, travel, adventure, and people who fantasise about this thing will feel like home.
Christian from Mexico AIESEC internship in Cairo, Egypt has been, in one word, AMAZING; I have been in a great places in Egypt and countries around here, with many funny people from all the World, is for that, that I’m learning so much about different cultures, not just the Egyptian; my mind is more open and I think that will be the most exited experience in my life. In conclusion, i can say that I have learned alot of things about me and the World that i had never knew.
AIESEC has been so influential in my life and changed me so much that I can't remember how I was before I started my AIESEC adventure. I embarked on my new journey with lots of optimism and faith. Moreover, I tried to take advantage of every leadership position I get appointed in to excel and improve my skills. I am an AIESECer since 2007 and I hope I would continue for many years. I attended around 10 national and international conferences in the countries of Egypt and Turkey as a member in LC AUC (American University in Cairo). This amazing opportunity made me network with so many diverse people all around the globe and had a significant effect on my communication skills. I was also part of an OC team for two national conferences and the praise I got from the participants of the conference encouraged me a lot and gave me tons of motivation. Finally, I was appointed as a Motivation Coach last fall where I got the chance to plan meetings and outings for the members in our LC and keep them motivated to work and most importantly enjoy their AIESEC experience. If I look back on my AIESEC years, I would smiling for hours at every moment I spent in AIESEC. I am grateful for everything AIESEC gave me and every AIESECer who helped me throughout the best years of my life. Written by: Assaad Mardini
Hello, my name is Nourhan Abdel Aziz. I am studying Political Science in the American University in Cairo At first hand, I was compelled to go for an internship to India simply because my best friend happened to be matched to an internship in Hyderabad. However, only when I came here did I notice that I have made a decision that would help shape the rest of my future. I am working on a project called "Enter Your Future" where we get to go to different schools to give workshops about lateral thinking, leadership, and entrepreneurship to high school students. Before coming here I thought that this internship will help me strengthen my views and ideas concerning development; however, it proved to have a larger impact than that alone. 34 interns are currently working on my project and they come from 16 different countries. The diversity has helped me understand a better view on ho people are affected b their culture ho e are portra ed in other countries and it definitel helped me notice the difference in or ethics and or habits that people from different cultures share I hope that you would consider India as a place to visit and to intern in because it will definitely teach an important lesson about life!
